Brian Hill was confident from the start that the massive center the Orlando Magic drafted out of Louisiana State University in 1992 had the potential for greatness.
Hill, the Magic's coach then and now, remembers being amazed by all of the intangibles Shaquille O'Neal possessed when he entered the league. The size. The agility. The charisma. The dominant game.
Despite all of those gifts, there was one thing at that time that Hill was not certain O'Neal would have: longevity.
''You just didn't think of it at that point in his career, you just didn't know,'' Hill said shortly before the Magic snapped the Heat's winning streak at nine games Sunday. ``You knew he was going to be one of the best big men to ever play the game. How long he was going to go, nobody [knew].
